I didn't go out to see this movies in theators because it was clearly
government propaganda (Al Gore), and my environmental science professor
taught a class on how global warming doesn't exist at college. An
assignment for the class was to read a book by Michael Crichton, "State
Of Fear". The whole book is fiction, but covers science that discounts
global warming and sets out a case that the government is engineering
natural disasters intentionally to keep us in a 'state of fear'. In
the end of the book the government causes a huricane and a tsunami,
that the characters manage to stop and prevent. And just as I was
reading it the tsunami hit, and a huricane swept through the gulf. It
really changed my mind about global warming. But my professor felt
that the problems of urban sprawl, and nuclear power were far worse
that CO^2 emissions.
People come to America and think we are the new world, full of green
mountains, rivers and forests. But Al gore didn't cover the fact that
if you fly over America you are going to see industrial development
stretching across the whole country, with nuclear power plants pumping
out clouds of pure, clean, friendly, H^20. (Which by the way is also a
green house gas). And that there is no way we can reduce energy costs
with such a booming population. Americas population per square mile of
the country is far more than almost any other developed nation, and it
is expanding just as quickly. 50 years from now when he says global
warming will sink new york under water, we will have so many more
people, new york will have expanded and stretch along the entire
eastern coast. One giant city like in Gibsons novels. The Sprawl.
And it will all run on nuclear power, not coal burning fossil fuel
plants. Even if we switch to hydrogen fuels or whatever with our cars.
Our nuclear plants will still be pumping out clouds of pure H^20 that
can be seen covering an entire city from the air, and building into the
other clouds in the atmosphere. All all gore said about that, was that
the heat from CO2 gasses (A green house gas), caused evaporation of
ground water at faster rates, and led to more violent weather. He
didn't even mention that water was in fact a green house gas.
And I really didn't like his characterization of America as a
progressive country. The problems at the end of the movie he showed
america has overcame, were all problems we created that many other
countries never had to begin with. And he ignored the genocide of the
first peoples of america, and the rape of the natural wild life and
forests. But pretty much all government web sites say America was a
pioneer in preserving natural wilderness and has more national parks
than many other countries. Well you know, most other countries don't
need national parks. And private land is being preserved.
Has anyone else seen this movie?? I seriously, want to discuss it with
the group.
