As I discuss in my article "Creating A Patsy", Craford arrived in Dallas
in early Oct. and met Ruby at the Texas State Fair. He was hired to work
at the club where he also slept, and appeared to have regular jobs mainly
cleaning up and getting things ready for the evening's show, such as
setting the lights, etc. He also sometimes worked at Ruby's sister's club

as a bartender. One of his regular jobs was to feed Ruby's dogs. He
spent all his time either at the club or doing errands for Ruby, and often

the two of them went out together to a restaurant or to Ruby's auto
mechanic, or elsewhere. Ruby also bought some clothes for Craford,
including a suit, at the Goodwill store, which he wore at work. I get the

impression that Ruby treated Craford like the son he never had, and
probably like the fact that he had a mob background.
                                                                  -
