  In 1964 John Glenn withdraws from the Ohio race for the U.S. Senate.
  In 1973 Ellsworth Bunker resigned as US ambassador to South Vietnam.
  In 1981 Pres. Reagan shot and wounded by John W. Hinckley Jr.
  In 1982 Third Space Shuttle Mission - Columbia 3 returns to Earth.
  In 1984 U.S. ends participation in multinational peace force in Lebanon.
  In 1986 James Cagney died at his farm in Stanfordville, NY, at age 86.
