I struggled with this one too. On the one hand, I figured if you asked
random people off of the street, the wrong answer would be the most
common. However, we're not asking random people off of the street. We're
asking people who read alt.brain.teasers, rec.puzzles, and Kevin Stone's
website. And yet, these people might also realize that the average person
would probably give the wrong answer. But these people may also realize
that the question is being directed towards a certain demographic who are
likely to know the correct answer.
So are these people more likely to choose the correct answer or the
incorrect one? I'm not surprised to find out that it's close.
