Nope, that's assuming you're driving something that gets around
35mpg(which is average for a mid level sedan, remember you're going to
be carrying a LOT of stuff with you) for around 2664 miles at around
$2.50 a gallon, which isn't exceptional if you are driving from the
east coast(that's assuming gas doesn't increase in price as you go
west, which I know for a fact isn't true, but I'm trying to be kind
here).

Then I'll correct the terminology to "travel expenses". Remembering
that you'll be on the road about 40 hours(one way), and most people
can drive around 12 hours a day, that would mean you'd stay about
three times, which puts you both ways at around $85.

If you want it to blow away, I would completely agree, but to keep
from fi****ng it out of the net at the end of the Playa then you would
need the canopy($25), the stakes($10) that will have to be at least a
foot long so it doesn't blow away(and, come to think about it, the
canopy has to be made out of very, very stern stuff so it doesn't rip
off under the wind)., and the sledgehammer/mallet to pound it in(about
$10 or so). Still cheaper than what I originally said true. $45.

Kindof. If you live off of hardtack and trail mix that cuts it down
to about $10 a day, which multiplied for each day you are out(Burning
Man is around five days, four days on the road, which will put you at
around $100).

So, taking your suggestions we are able to bring down the price to
$1080 if you are willing to do Burning Man...frugally.

Exactly. I won't say that Burning Man is horrible, terrible, or
anything like that, I just don't like it to the tune of $1000-1500,
and hanging out in Amsterdam sounds more fun.
