considering cognitivism (p. 1): 'what it is (was?), how it originated,
and whether or not it is now desirable to look for ways to go beyond
it'. The authors are philosophers, cognitive scientists, and
psychologists and they write within these genres. Their contributions
are divided into three sections on theory, language, and practice
respectively, sections framed by an introduction and conclusion from
