Ahh... I see you're a typical rightist, unbeliever in possible
'conspiracy'
concepts... even when they are proven and a well known part of the
American history.
In Lincoln's case, there were topp (no pun intended) military officials
operating at the behest of northern industrialists who's livelihood
came from cheap trading with the south, who conspired and were
sentenced for their plotting to assassinate him. Basically, Booth and
his gay buddy, Samuel Arnold, were at the core of the conspiracy.
Samuel Arnold (sentenced to life)
George Atzerodt (sentenced to hang)
David Herold (sentenced to hang)
Dr. Samuel Mudd (sentenced to life)
Michael O'Laughlen (sentenced to life)
Lewis Paine (sentenced to hang)
Edman Spangler (sentenced to 6 years)
John Surratt (escaped to Canada)
Mary Surratt (sentenced to hang)
All of these people's connections to military or industry can be easily
researched.
"John Wilkes Booth, although a non-combatant during the Civil War, was
pathologically devoted to the Confederate cause and yearned to strike a
blow on Dixie's behalf." -- The History Channel.
Here's a nice version that whitewashes everything but the military....

I snipped a bunch of rightist, neo-con sup****ting, bull**** replies that
were
even less sup****table than anything they addressed.
Your fun sometimes, topp... other times, you're just a deranged government
servant, willing to follow the sheep herders into battle regadless of the
validity of the orders..... but I love ya' for it bud, 'cause I've been
there.
"The moment war is declared... the mass of the people, through
some spiritual alchemy, become convinced that they have willed
and executed the deed themselves. They then, with the exception
of a few malcontents, proceed to allow themselves to be
regimented,
coerced, deranged in all the environments of their lives, and
turned
into a solid manufactory of destruction toward whatever other
people
may have, in the appointed scheme of things, come within the range
of the Government's disapprobation...
-- Randolph Bourne, "The State", 1918
