Schwarzkopf asked during Desert Storm how long to rebuild a SR-71 for
flight? "He was told 14 days", but we have one ready for flight now. He
cancelled the request. Your keeping "track" of SR's that are state side
and
worn out, I am talking world wide. Do you think all the B-52 are being
destroyed? No they are being retrofitted are all SR's on the ground for
people to gawk at? no, while space based imagery has grown it still has
it's
limits and though the Air Force doesn't "officially fly SR-71's any more"
it
doesn't mean that they aren't being flown and the real list of what's
active
and what's not, has wide margins. F-117's and B-2's cost just as much to
fly, the F-111 is a 1960 era air craft and it's still in use, why because
it
has a special purpose that hasn't been replaced. There are areas of the
planet that still require SR operations, BUT the OFFICAL STORY is the Air
Force doesn't fly them. The Agency does and did all the information was
given directly to the CIA. The Air Force simply maintained the Aircraft
and
Supplied Pilots.
