Following the verdict of the Inquest jury Mr Al Fayed releases this
statement:
"It's been a long fight to uncover the truth about the deaths of my son
Dodi
and Diana, Princess of Wales. I'm not the only person who says they were
murdered. Diana predicted she would be murdered and how it would happen.
So
I am disappointed.
"The verdicts will come as a blow to the many millions of people around
the
world who sup****ted my struggle. I thank them. For 10 years I have endured
two police investigations. The French and the Scotland Yard inquiries were
wrong. These inquests prove it. They said it was an accident and their
findings are now dismissed. The jury have found that it wasn't just the
paparazzi who caused the crash, but identified following vehicles. Who
they
are and what they were doing in Paris is still a mystery.
[BB: Hmm, Fayed had "to endure two police investigations". If I remember
correctly he demanded all kind of investigations and he tried to tell the
investigators what they should discover. He runs his business empire with
an iron fist, but he doesn't rule the French and British police, thank
God.
Fayed leaves out the role of Henri Paul, the Jury didn't. In fact this is
what the Jury concluded:
{quote}
14 The deceased is Emad El-Din Mohamed Abdel Moneim
15 Al Fayed. The injury causing death: multiple injuries,
16 including severe impact injury to the chest and
17 the transaction of the aorta.
18 Dodi Al Fayed died in the Alma Underpass in Paris at
19 around 12.22 am on 31st August 1997 as a result of
20 a motor crash. The crash was caused or contributed to
21 by the speed and manner of driving of the Mercedes,
22 the speed and manner of driving of the following
23 vehicles, the impairment of the judgment of the driver
24 of the Mercedes through alcohol. There are nine of
25 those who agree on those conclusions.
5
1 In addition, the death of the deceased was caused or
2 contributed to by the fact that the deceased was not
3 wearing a seat-belt, the fact that the Mercedes struck
4 the pillar in the Alma Tunnel rather than colliding with
5 something else, and we are unanimous on those, sir.
{unquote}
So, according to the Jury it was a motor crash. The driver had been
drinking
and no one in the car wore a seat belt. The Jury talks indeed about
"following vehicles", but only bananas (and Fayed) deduct from these
words
that these vehicles weren't occupied by paparazzi only.]
"I thank Michael Mansfield and my legal team. Michael explored the
evidence
with great skill and sensitivity. He believes in his heart it was not an
accident, and I'll always be grateful to him.
[BB: Why did Mansfield drop the conspiracy theories, then? Why did at the
very end of the Inquests come up with a new theory? He is a lawyer and he
tries to do his utmost best, but he doesn't have to agree with the person
who employs him.Let's hope he will tell his side of the story in due time]
"These inquests were required by law, and the coroner decided their cost,
scope and the witnesses called. They were not a waste of time or money.
They
have established many new relevant facts that were being withheld from the
public.
[BB: what relevant new facts? Fayed has come up with nothing and his
conspiracies were debunked. The only new facts that emerged were of a
private nature. The carefully created image of the haunted Princess has
been
shattered. She had various lovers (a far larger number than Prince
Charles!), she let others pay for her expenses (the Fayeds for instance)
and
she was mentally not very stable.]
"Contrary to Lord Stevens' re****t, there's now clear evidence that Diana
and
Dodi's relation****p was serious. It's also clear that Dodi and I were
blameless in planning the fatal last journey.
[BB: the only witness who claimed this was....M. Fayed. ]
"I thank the jury. I had to fight long and hard for there to be a jury of
ordinary men and women, with hearings in public, and they've done their
very
best in difficult cir***stances.
"They didn't hear from all the witnesses. It's shocking to me that French
police, senior officials, paparazzi and pathologists refused to give
evidence.
[BB: they testified in France, their testimonies played an im****tant role
in
the Inquests. It is true that the didn't show up at the Inquests, but that
was to be expected.]
"I've always believed that Prince Philip and the Queen hold valuable
evidence that only they know. They were not even questioned, but they
should
have been. No one should be above the law.
[BB: why should they have been questioned? What indication was there that
they had anything to do with the crash? Once again, it was Fayed who,
without any evidence, made various claims.]
"Senior British police officers sat on a crucial note by Diana's lawyer,
the
Mishcon note, and then lied about their reasons for doing so.
[BB: Princess Diana wrote many wacky letters. She was mentally unstable,
so
much is clear now. Why pay much attention to one of those letters? The
next
day she used to write something that was totally contrary.]
"The MI6 witnesses told us very little. I still believe they really know
what really happened.
[BB: may be there is very little. Princess Diana and the Fayeds were/are
politically of little im****tance.]
"Instead, I've had to sit for six months and listen to the coroner's
accusations against me and all those witnesses who said it wasn't a simple
accident. I feel as though my character and belief - that I'm entitled to
have as a father - have been on trial.
[BB: Fayed's testimony was one big embarrassment. He did a very good job
discrediting himself.]
"Diana and Dodi were taken away at the prime of their life, when they were
at their happiest. They looked forward to a future together, and I'll
always
mourn their loss, to me and to the world."
[BB: Princess Diana told her friends a different story.]
In short: Fayed spin. Why does he do this? Why spin what the Jury said,
why
spin what most witnesses said? Their statements are available. One can see
that Fayed tries to spin everybody's words.
