Jalalabad, 17 January: The governor of eastern Nangarhar Province
has given details on the arrest of the Taleban spokesman.
Providing further details on the arrest of Taleban Spokesman Dr
Mohammad Hanif, Nangarhar Governor Gol Agha Sherzai told a news
conference in the provincial capital, Jalalabad, today: "The real name
of Dr Mohammad Hanif is Abdol Haq Haqiq. He is a resident of Chaprahar
District of Nangarhar Province.
He was also known there as Mansur." The governor added: "Dr
Mohammad Hanif was arrested on the night of 14/15 January in Rodat
District of Nangarhar Province."
Sherzai said: "Three people, including Dr Hanif, were arrested
after a clash with the government forces. A fourth person who was
wounded in the clash managed to escape."
