I had tried to make a short story but I don't really think I'm any
good of a writer and it would probably be better to just post what one
of my big ideas was for the story.
It's more along the line of post-cyberpunk, but what would happen in
the story is that everything a company owned was directly affected by
how well they were doing economically. Sort of how stocks go down and
investors lose money, but this the results would be physical. Let's
say IBM gets hacked again and they lose millions of dollars, the IBM
hq might lose a few floors. Everything that was there is gone and the
unfortunate employees end up outside, maybe dead. NASA experiments
with a different kind of fuel, and loses sup****t for a future launch.
Lack of funds results in a satellite breaking out of orbit, falling to
the ocean. Restaurant buildings collapse on the diners when the
company claims bankruptcy. People would have to buy everything
(instead of renting a room or using anything for the public) to ensure
safety.
Kind of like how a virus can change a few lines of code, and then
entire programs are unable to operate. I don't know if it would be
more of regular science-fiction.
