Every episode has a crime story. Layered on that is the contrast between
the
modern touchy-feely approach, and the 1970's beat 'em and frame 'em line.
Layered on that is the 1970's look and feel, which is partly real 1970's
and
partly 1970's cop shows. And then you have the main character's attempts
to
get back to his own time. So there's a lot going on, and much of it is
quite
accessible.
The trick of having people talking out of the TV is one that was also used
on an episode of Dr Who. I hope that the BBC isn't going to convert some
interesting SF ideas into overused clichés.
