They've been trying to do a sequel for a couple years now, last I heard
it was supposed to have begun filming in October 2005. There's very
little out there on the production, but if they're scheduled to shoot
this November and IMDB shows a 2007 release date, I'd guess it'll be
ready by next summer.

I don't understand how they can call it a sequel, it's more like a
modern-day remake. They substituted BBSs, the Air Force, and the cold
war, with the internet, homeland security and terrorists. And
changed/added some other characters too.
