Looks that way.
What was that whole singularity thing about anyway? The first decade
and half of the internet was crazy.
I just reread snowcrash and watched Jesus Camp.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus_camp
I have never seen so many children with herpes all in the same film.
Seen any evangelicals round your neck of the woods? Are they really at
the helm in the US? Are they as scary as they are in the film?
How's the infrastructure where you are?
I'm amazed that my ISP still carries usenet at all (even if they don't
do it well). More generally I'd say that, in terms of the numbers,
standard of living is slipping over here (at least incrementally) though
I'm not sure if its just part of the normal ebb and flow or if the
system is tearing a bit at the edges. Meanwhile the view of the
international situation, from the small cold island, seems to be
increasingly absurd. At least you can depend on N. Korea for the
occasional nervous laugh! If only Tony had a quanta of Kim's crazy
flair (at least then we could say we were ****ed with some confidence).
I have about 3 or 4 posts for alt.cp in a half finished stage, and im
off work for a wee while starting today (yay!) so I'll see if I can feed
something into this crazy black hole.
Also I finally finished rereading every PKD short ever written and have
started on the novels (into three stigmata right now) so maybe we can
get back to the PKD vs Gibson, Stim vs Min, Perky Pat vs Tally Isham
vision-of-the-future debate that we came close to having some years ago!
I finally read PR, but I'm saving that for another post (probably in a
year and a half or so.)
yours constantly amazed at those still stubborn enough to keep checking
this group,
