I think he is probably referring to Vimana, from the Vedic writings.
They speak of Vimana that travel on the land, Vimana that travel on
the water, Vimana that travel under the water, Vimana that travel
through the air, and Vimana that travel between the stars.
They also tell of mechanical birds, and other devices, including
weapons that sound rather like lasers, or SF "heat rays".
They were the possessions of the gods
