Larry Niven, Hugo And Nebula Award Winning Author, To Headline FenCon
Science Fiction Literary Convention To Feature More Than 30 Writers
And Singers
Larry Niven, Hugo and Nebula award winning creator of works such as
Ringworld, Known Space, and the Man-Kzin Wars, will be Guest of Honor
at FenCon (www.fencon.org), a new science fiction/fantasy literary and
filk convention scheduled for September 24-26, 2004, at the Holiday
Inn Select North Dallas.
Along with Niven, FenCon will feature Michael Longcor, multiple
Pegasus award-winning singer, as Filk Guest of Honor; Elizabeth Moon,
winner of the 2003 Nebula Award for The Speed of Dark, as
Toastmistress; and Joe R. Lansdale, Mojo storyteller and winner of
numerous awards including five Bram Stoker horror awards as a Special
Guest. An exciting new science fiction convention, FenCon will offer
numerous activities including informative and instructional panels,
filk concerts, a video room, an open gaming area, and a costume
contest.
More than 30 guests, including writers, filk singers and artists, are
scheduled to appear at this three-day event, offering their expertise
and experience in several venues for attendees. Filk concerts (folk
music with a science fiction twist) will run all day Saturday. The
dealers' room will house more than fifteen vendors selling merchandise
ranging from books to ****rts to jewelry.
This is an incredible op****tunity to gain insights and tips from a
Master of Science Fiction and to experience the debut of a convention
with a major focus on Filk.
