BUT your post is more disturbing than it first appears.
Notably Because you (like myself are Canadian, and so your "rant" about
solders is about those of a foreign land.
Now I happen to know that HERE, OUR solders have both the right and the
duty
top object to an order that is (under Canadian law) a criminal act. Yes
this
means they could refuse to shot someone, but the regulation is explained
as
being "if ordered to commit murder, then you Must object and take it up
the
chain of command if the order is pressed" .
Further, your talk of the German solders of 60 years ago, is something
that
may be a sore point in many minds. especially as Canadian officials were
accomplices to the monstrous acts of the Nazi Govt. I say this as, in the
late 1930s Hitlers Govt officials loaded a ****p with Jews and sent them
off.
Canada refused to let the ****p into ****t (in fact told the officers there
on
they would be sunk if they tried) thus sending these people back to their
deaths.
Now I don't agree with all Bush has done , nor with all Regan did , or
other
politicians. but I am sick and tired of people yelling how evil bush is
and
using it as an excuse to sneer at the common solders. I lived during the
Vietnam "event" and know how the same things were said then, and how the
solders who went and did their duty (after being drafted) were treated as
monsters on their return. I don't want to see this happen again
