The Association of Science-Fiction and Fantasy Artists (ASFA) is
pleased to announce its participation in presenting the following
program items at DragonCon.

Our web site is

Regional ASFA meeting- Come see what ASFA is all about, and catch up on
current organizational issues. This will occur Monday, Sept. 5th at 3
pm in the Imperial Ballroom (main art show room)

Memories of the Frank Kelly Freas
Frank Kelly Freas, long considered the "father" of ASFA and the epitome
of the quintessential sf/f artist, passed away this past January. We
invite everyone to come and share their memories of this special man.

And as a prelude to the Art Show Awards, we will show a special video
tribute to Frank Kelly Freas and a slideshow of this years Chesley
award nominees and winners.

We will have a wonderful ASFA table in the Dragon*Con Art Show where we
can tell you all about our great organization.

The Association of Science-Fictiona and Fantasy Artists (ASFA) started
in the early 1980s as an informal coalition of artists and associated
professionals working in the science-fiction/fantasy field. It
formalized into a educational non-profit cor****ation. Over the years,
ASFA has transformed into an internationally recoginized organization,
offering its members op****tunities to network, exhibit and participate
in myriad projects.

Among ASFA's regular activities:

The Chesley Awards, presented annually. The awards grew out of the ASFA
annual awards for sf/f art. After Chesley Bonestell, the great
astronomical artist, passed away in 1986, the awards were officially
renamed in his honor. The Chesley Awards continues to be the only peer
awards of its kind. Akin to the Nebulas, the Chesleys are recognition
of outstanding art in the sf/f field, voted on by ASFA members every
year.

The ASFA Quarterly offers interviews with professional sf/f artists,
technique tips, sf/f art news, listings of upcoming conventions,
re****ts from convention art shows, and postings of various art
op****tunities.

The ASFA-Online Occasionally , an e-newsletter brings the latest
information to the member****p via e-mail.

ASFA publishes a Member****p directory, a great resource for artists,
art directors, collectors and anyone else interested in the field of
sf/f art to connect with each other.

Please take the time to visit us at our ASFA table in this years
Dragon*Con Art Show!
