| Sorry for some of the archaic characters getting screwed up.
dweomer, n. [< OE *dweomer, *dwimer, *dwimor in ¼edweomer, ¼edwimer,
¼edwimor, illusion, magic, sorcery, phantasm (cf. J.R.R. Tolkien's use
of gedwimora for "visions" in his partial Old English translation of an
early version of the Quenta)] An enchantment. Cf. dweomercręft,
dweomercręfter, dweomered, dwimmer-crafty, dwimmerlaik. (Also cf. J.R.R.
Tolkien's Dwimorberg ("haunted mountain") and Dwimordene ("haunted
valley", Lothlórien).)
[Not in OED.]
DWEOMER -- From dweomercręft, the art (cręft) of magic (dweomer).
Gary Gygax, Dungeon Master's Guide (1979)
Gord's first impulse was to decline, for he prized the ring highly and
suspected that it had some hidden dweomer yet unrevealed to him.
Gary Gygax, "At Moonset Blackcat Comes: A Tale of Gord of Greyhawk" (1985)
"Zuch an eye you haff!" Hengel said. "You hold der best uff my daggers!"
His deep brown eyes sad above the great brush of beard, Hengel stared
solemnly at Gord and added, "It has der dwveemer zo dat it ignores armor
und"
"What's dwveemer?" interrupted Gord.
"Magick! Shpells und zuch!" the dwarf said a bit crossly. "Don't be
shtoopid!"
Hengel's accent was getting worse, Gord thought to himself. He meant
dweomer, as in dweomercręfter, a spell~binder.
Gary Gygax, Saga of Old City (1985)
"But the same magic-users were then unable to locate you anywhere, and
they claimed that powerful dweomers protected you two."
Gary Gygax, Saga of Old City (1985)
The dun-clad magic-user scratched and tugged at his long, scraggly beard
before saying hesitantly, "The stuff writ upon the lid of yon coffin is
potent, but it is done in runes so ancient I cannot be sure. . . . Yet I
find no fell warding there, no curse, no sigil bringing some dweomer of
ill."
Gary Gygax, Saga of Old City (1985; ellipsis in original)
"You fools were duped by mere phantasms, false visions!" roared the
commander. "The entire dweomer of our assembled spell-casters was spent
on the destruction of illusions!"
Gary Gygax, Artifact of Evil (1986)
Iuz watched the eleven slowly back from the chamber, one of their number
using the dweomer of her staff to draw the comatose mage with them.
Gary Gygax, Artifact of Evil (1986)
dweomercręft, dweomercraft, n. [< OE *dweomer (q.v.) + cręft, craft] The
art magical; wizardry, sorcery. Cf. dweomer, dweomercręfter, dweomered,
dwimmer-crafty, dwimmerlaik.
Žus dude Cadwalon; and Peluz hit wuste a-nan.
žurh his dweomer-cręften; že wunede in žan lufte.
Laamon, Brut
"Our only real worry now would be magical assistance in hounding us down
-- I know little of dweomercraft, and less of how to combat it."
Gary Gygax, Saga of Old City (1985)
dweomercręft, dweomercraft, v.i. To work the art magical.
[Not in OED.]
While Curley Greenleaf did not actually instruct him in the secrets of
druidical dweomercrafting, he did explain much of the theory and
practice of the arts and disciplines involved not only with his, but
also clerical and magical spells as well.
Gary Gygax, Saga of Old City (1985)
"You use illusions, do you?" Melf murmured under his breath as the
results of his dweomercrafting were completed. "Then let's see how well
you do against the 'Tentacles!'"
Gary Gygax, Artifact of Evil (1986)
dweomercręfter, dweomercrafter, n. A magick user.
[Not in OED.]
In an eye-blink, the screaming and writhing stopped as the form of the
wounded dweomercręfter was turned into ****ous, gray stone.
Gary Gygax, "At Moonset Blackcat Comes: A Tale of Gord of Greyhawk" (1985)
The others reined in, and Curley Greenleaf came near to Gord. "I am no
dweomercrafter, but I will examine that parchment, if I may, Gord."
Gary Gygax, Artifact of Evil (1986)
dweomered, ppl.adj. Affected by a dweomer (q.v.).
[Not in OED.]
In its folds was the little necklace of silver links with the milky
amulet depending from themEvaleigh's dearest possession, the dweomered
pendant given her by her elven great-great-grandmother.
Gary Gygax, Saga of Old City (1985)
The stuff had an odd, pearlescent sheen to Gord's dweomered eyes, but
this disappointed as the thick salve was spread on the torn face of the
comatose druid.
Gary Gygax, Saga of Old City (1985)
"Let me hold my sword," Gord answered quietly, reaching for the
dweomered weapon.
Gary Gygax, Artifact of Evil (1986)
dwimmer-crafty, adj. Skilled in dweomercręft (q.v.); skilled in
wizardry, sorcery, the art magical.
[Not in OED.]
"It is ill dealing with such a foe: he is a wizard both cunning and
dwimmer-crafty, having many guises."
J.R.R. Tolkien, The Two Towers in The Lord of the Rings (1936-49)
dwimmerlaik, n. [< OE *dweomer (q.v.) + -lįc, play, action] Magick,
sorcery, necromancy; a work of sorcery, spectre, phantom, monster. Cf.
dweomer, dweomercręft, dweomercręfter, dweomered, dwimmer-crafty,
scīn-lįc.
[In OED s.v. demerlayk.]
Ža sende Asscanius; že was lauerd & dux.
after heom end žat lond; že cužen dweomerlakes song.
Laamon, Brut
if ai mon mihte Traher king; tuhten to dęše.

Laamon, Brut
Ženne že bolde Baltazar bred ner wode,
And bede že ceté to seche segges žurout

Žat con dele wyth demerlayk and deuine lettres.
