_Phantom_, Terry Goodkind. I loved the first few books in the series,
but he's suffering from a modified form of Robert Jordan-itis. Reading
through parts of this book is like reading the Speech in _Atlas
Shrugged_ (yes, I did) and after a while, I start flipping through --
"yeah, Richard's still declaiming." "Doesn't he ever shut up?" "Is he
being paid by the word?" "Fetch the hounds, the plot's around here
/somewhere/." "Make it STOP!" <toss>
Or it's a form of Heinlein's Disease: so famous that he doesn't need
to have an editor any longer.
Avoid this one as you would book 10 of WoT.
P.S.: Harry Potter. There, I said it.
