Yep. Especially the home versions of the big-name ones.

That helps a lot as well, I agree.
Also only running one application at a time will help a lot. Well, I
assume so since I find running 3 VMWare sessions each with 512MB RAM and
several native applications somtimes slows down my company notebook a
bit :-)
