Contact the WWII museums in or around Basel and ask -- or heck, even the 
ones here in the States!  What've you got to lose?  You /know/ someone 
somewhere had a grandpa in that unit and just happens to have more info. 
  Sometimes genealogy websites will carry historical info on names. 
You're going to have to do some snooping.  Good luck.
