Re: C14 bids: committees jumping the gun

Regarding early Bid Chatter and the disturbances felt within a system
that embraces both the chatter and the bids....

Protocol determines how a game (in any sense, reality) may be managed
fairly to all concerned... i.e. all who may choose to participate. It
is then quite understandable that to uphold protocol is to maintain
that balance that allows everyone to believe that they are playing the
same game together by the same rules.

That's all fine and proper to say and believe for what it is... a
good policy to tack up on the wall.

The reality, however, is most often, that loop holes exist in every
system and... that we should all be wise enough to realise that
unscrupulous methodologies will be found everywhere in any current
free enterprise system...

I'm biting my tongue to try to keep obvious political examples out of
this argument... it's really quite difficult.

 What to do?

 The choices are obvious...

  A) Ignore the reality and continue enforcing current policy.

  B) Establish a quorum (i believe that's the term for call together
enough representatives qualified to cast a vote regarding any proposed
policy changes) and attempt to ratify or agree that policies should be
re-evaluated on a routine basis (e.g. every two, four, or six years)
to determine whether or not any specifics regarding policy need
amendment.

I am willing to presume that such a practice as Plan B is already
part of the set of protocols established to govern how Convergence
will be managed in perpetuity.

In any case... "peace of mind" must involve sharing information about
the process in order for that "peace of mind" to remain stable for any
individuals on either side of the pool of knowledge. Systems... Any
disturbance within the pool disturbs the entire pool.

And that brings this argument back around to the point of origin...

Obviously, deviations from current protocols have disturbed the
"peace of mind" throughout entire pool.

My input on this truly takes no "sides".

I would merely hope that all have the wisdom to realise that
regardless of protocol, adherence to protocol will not be absolute.
Disturbance is part of reality. Stay in touch with reality,
regardless of how you choose to deal with it.
