Hah, goth was around long before Emo.
Goths so not all listen to the same kind of music.
Some listen to "Old school goth" aka "Post-punk" like The Sisters of
Mercy, Joy Division, ect which are from the late 70s and 80s.
Some listen to "Industrial", both older like the original Skinny Puppy,
Throbbing Gristle, old Ministry, Revolting Cocks; and then newer
industrial as well (approximatly post 1995).
You also have EBM, Synthpop, Futurepop, gothic metal, Electrogoth..
Baroque Classical, ala Bach, Vivaldi for the Victorian goths.
Many more.
Most of the "fake goths" seem to listen exclusively to music played on
the radio "Alternative" (amusing term..) and various forms of Metal.
KoRn, Slipknot, Nightwish are all popular in the clueless wannabe goth
crowd. (Note I'm not saying those are bad bands per se)
But myself, I listen to all of them and more. When I've had my friends
from many walks of life try to catagorize me, inevitably the shrug and
go "you're xybre".
