Welcome! I am in the same boat as you - after living right on the edge of
goth style and goth interests for years, I finally gave up my fear of
labels, and am exploring my 'black' side. And having a blast, I might add.
I do empathize about the nursery school parents - my son (3 1/2) goes to a
Catholic preschool, (it's really just a good school, not for religious
reasons - I am not Xian myself) and I do get the odd looks!
I am lucky to be a graphic designer, so I can always fall back on the old
'creative types wear lots of black' stereotype at work. My son shows no
predilection for black himself, but he thinks Mommy's clothes (and music,
BTW) are neat and fun. And except maybe for that year or so when I totally
frumped out, my hubby is pretty open to any style I have ever chosen to
experiment with. Of course my in-laws are another story...... LOL
I would love to meet and chat, but I am in the US. Still, I am always
happy
to share the laughs and pitfalls of goth life as a) a parent, b) a
non-teenager c) a 'late-bloomer'
There are some great threads here, but sadly, isn't a very active group.
Are
you alt.gothic.fa****on? Lots more activity there, and off-topic posts are
generally well received (as long as they are marked, of course ;-)
Welcome, again, and I hope I see more of you around.
