Well, mine is eleven, so she's definitely past the toddler stage, but
I did have to consider the same things when she was younger . . .
.. . . basically, I decided that I wasn't going to play Lords of Acid
in front of her, but if it was a song that had some adult lyrics but
they weren't *really clearly discernable*, I wasn't going to worry
about it . . .
.. . . of course, this meant that her favorite song, when she was about
five, was the live version of Ministry's "Stigmata" . . . *cracks up*
Thankfully, she NEVER seemed to understand the "**** this, **** that"
bit at the end ;>
So, in other words, I'll play Sisters of Mercy's "Driven Like The
Snow" in front of her ("**** me and marry me young") because it's one
word, said quickly in the course of the lyrics . . . but I won't play
NIN's "The Only Time," ("The devil wants to **** me in the back of his
car") because it's *really clear* and easily heard . . .
.. . . then again, Kira is really good about not swearing, anyway --
I've explained to her that there are certain things that Mommy says
while driving that aren't to be repeated, and she calls it all "car
talk," which amuses me greatly ;>
