In need of Advice

by tenn840@[EMAIL PROTECTED] (Dizzy) Oct 20, 2004 at 09:34 PM

I am a new teacher in a very rural area, I tend to like the darker
aesthetic in my cloths and most of my music. But when I am at school
I dress professionally although I leave my earrings in from time to
time, I also wear a Maltese Cross necklace.
The question is how do deal with the students who ask "are you
gothic" or " you listen to that devil music". Next how do I try and
say things to cheer up the students who also enjoy the same aesthetic
but are picked on by their peers. I would like to offer encouragement
with out offending the parents and getting myself in trouble with the
school board.
Lastly I have had one parent ask to have their student removed
from my class because I am "gothic". I am not offended by this label,
I would like the parents and faculty of my school to see the other
aspects of my personality.
Please any information and or advice would be greatly appreciated.
