I'd also recommend w3m as a much more functional browser, if you're
willing to give it several swift kicks to get set up correctly in the
first place. It gives a good perspective of how the rest of the world
deals with software; it's originally written with a Japanese assumption,
and then translated to English. It's fussy about character sets, among
other things.
