Arbitrary rules about things like professional promoters aren't
likely to help us avoid the bait and switch we've seen from

I think networking is our most useful tool. We know how to 
look people up and figure out what they are about. 
Why wait until there is drama to find out that so and so is
affiliated with thus and such? If we can't find that stuff out
up front and we don't know anything about a committee, we can be
wary about accepting a bid. There's nothing saying we have to
accept a bid for voting just because it got submitted.

We don't have to step on any toes. We just say, "Sorry,
we know nothing about you. Participate for a year, find out
what we're about, let us get to know you, and try again next year."

Sure, that means more work than having a set of hoops and check boxes,
but the communication and networking is what makes Convergence 
so awesome.

I don't mind a public vote. 
Most of us have been around long enough to agree or disagree 
with each other without breaking each others' toes. 
It puts the vote in the arena of people we know and minimizes
the "who are all of these assholes?" factor.

<3 The C*b*l! I think that the organization of the C*b*l is up
to the people in the C*b*l because y'all are the insane ones who
keep this Convergence train running. 

As long as Convergence stays within the realm of a.g and people we know,
things run smoothly. Keep up the good work!

I just care about having a good time with friends that I seldom see
face to face because I live in the asscrack of nowhere. 
When Convergence is run by "people we know" it stays affordable and fun.
When it falls into the hands of people who don't have "our interests"
in mind, then it gets pricey, overdone, and way less fun. 

Even though a lot of us are less active here (or not really active)
we still remember who we are. We still want to get together every year.
At least, that's why I keep popping in to add my two cents worth even
though I'm not actively participating anymore. I'm still lurking.
