Most of my close friends live in other places.  I move, they move, they 
were never nearby to begin with....  There's a reason a lot of my spare 
income goes towards travel. Especially since I try to see most of my 
friends more often than every 'few years'.  I continue to be impressed, 
for example, Dag, that you and I have managed to hang out approximately 
annually for 8 years now, which is really quite stellar given how far 
apart we live.

That, and I love meeting friends of my friends - my friends usually have 
good taste and then I have new friends.
