A -- I think a public vote could get ugly and out-of-hand, no matter
how well-intended.

B.i. -- This would solve the ballot box-stuffing issues and give more
say to the people who have demonstrated a lasting interest in the
gathering.

I think committees need to know that the C*b*l isn't some BIG SCARY 53|
<R37 1337 SOCIETY that is going to be on them like Big Brother.  Some
committees have understood that, but others have not.  Longtime a.g
folks know who the C*b*l is. We need to bring the newer people up to
speed.  I think the wiki goes a long way to helping with this.  The
only other thing I can think of is a "meet the C*b*l section on the
website, where people can read a bit more about who we are and what
things in particular each of us can help committees with.  Kind of
like a more detailed human resource page.  *shrug*
