Thijs, both Dr. Lange and his literary agent, Richard Curtis, very
adamantly
oppose fanfic of any kind.
I agree that there's an awful lot of untapped material in the Gor realm,
but
Lange doesn't want anybody else writing Gor stories or vignettes.
As far as drawings and whatnot, there are new pictures every month on the
Gorean Voice website, http://www.pantheus.com/TGV.shtml
A very good site, Pantheus does a fantastic job and there's a ton of
content. I guess Lange doesn't mind people doing graphic images (since
he's
not personally a graphic artist, just a writer) and essays, but written
fiction is a no-no.
Movies: forget it. The two that were done in the '80s ("Gor" and "Outlaw
of
Gor") were direct-to-video disasters, some of the worst movies ever made.
Anime would be about the only other possibility, but the expense combined
with the dismal track record of Gorean projects since the mid-80s pretty
much rules out the chance of anybody making the investment. There was a
Japanese series ten years ago called "Fencer Of Minerva" very similar to
Gor
(female slavery, rule-by-sword, etc.), that will tide you over.
It's very unlikely that we'll see any new Gorean stories. "Prize of Gor",
the 27th volume in the saga, was written in 1989 and was supposed to be
published last year by New Horizons, but they had the same cash-flow
problems as Questar (the Telnarian books), Masquerade (reprinted the first
eleven Gor books in the early 90s, then went belly-up) and Vision
Entertainment (who were going to do a serial version of "Dancer Of Gor" in
Heavy Metal magazine and then publish the two remaining Gor books,
"Witness"
and "Prize"). New Horizons set up the World Of Gor website
http://www.worldofgor.com/gor.asp
and there were high hopes of getting the
franchise back up and running. They reprinted the first four books and
published hardback edtions of "Witness", and they offered all kinds of
merchandise. But the company just flat-out was undercapitalized and nobody
wanted Gor coffee mugs anyway, they wanted more Gor books. There was just
not enough cash to pay the printers, so the whole thing fell apart.
It's possible that "Prize" will see the light of day in the next few years
with another publisher, but don't get your hopes up. It's yet another
kajira-perspective novel, to begin with. And the chances that anybody will
make any kind of substantial investment in the franchise at this point are
slim. Maybe an eBook version will appear, who knows?
I wish you well,
