Hello, and thank-you in advance for your help.
I have recently acquired a couple of notebooks from the magician
Professor Field who was performing in London in the 1880's.
I have been trying to find out more about him, but I'm not finding much
information.
Here's what I know (from Burt Whaley’s Who’s Who)
Born 15 May 1835, died 13 April 1912.
Professional performer-dealer-teacher in London. Played the Royal
Aquarium (C1880 – 95 twice daily in his dealer’s stall), crystal
Palace
(1905) & West Pier Brighton. Finished career working sea-side resorts
and died in poverty.
I've also found a few posters in the Evanion archives at the British
Library.
Is there anyone out there who has any more information on him, or can
point me to any periodicals/books that might help.
Thank-you for any help.
