I don't know about eggs being full of hormones and not conducive to
meditation. However, I have tried in the past to become a vegan but
really
struggle when either eating out or cooking meals with my partner (who did
not change from veggie to vegan with me). I found the whole thing too
much
to cope with - hey, you do what you can don't you?

I have no objection to people eating meat if they are prepared to kill it
themselves etc. I object to supermarkets packaging 'lamb' in little
polystyrene trays when it's REAL name is DEAD SHEEP. We have ****k, beef,
venison, offal, etc. very few of these things call a spade a spade. The
suffering caused is mainly for farmers profit. Battery farming is obscene
as is the rape pits that pigs are subjected too. However, I have no
objection to people eating meat they have reared humanely and slaughtered
humanely (if that's what they desire to do). It's the inhumanity of
production farming that upsets me.

As I wear the odd bit of leather, I also find that I am in a very
hypocritical situation but you seem to find out more and more about the
misery inflicted on animals for human gain. How many people realise that
an
eiderdown quilt comes from feathers that are plucked from the bird several
times over. The birds are plucked and then let to grow more feathers
which
are plucked again. How painful must that be?

I think veganism is a wonderful aim. One which, I am ashamed to say, I
have
failed at. However, I think I'm going to try again. This thread has
renewed my interest and determination!
