The fairly-old distinction between "Black Irish" and "Red Irish"
refers (originally) to hair color. Oddly, the "Red" Irish are
descendents of several hundred years of Viking ("The Lady of the
Lake") invasions. Unfortunately, the "Black Irish" are merely
earlier invaders.
The latest invaders -- surplus English under Es*** -- may be
called "Orange" Irish...
(Orange you glad they're not?)
...however the "Orange Free State" was in South Africa, named for
the Dutch Duc d'Orange (not /duc de l'orange/, which is a /French/
way of cooking a Dockery's goose), who was in charge of a Duchy (no
relation).
The "Black Russian" (Cossack, uncommon Tatar) may have been rendered
extinct by pogrom. However doubtful (one does not, in the case,
yodel, "Hey, you missed me!"), the "Red Russians" ("Russians") --
whence our term "Reds" for Communists -- certainly tried.
They also whacked some 30,000,000 (million, sic) "White Russians"
("Ukrainians") and "Yellow Russians" (/Byelorusse/, "Belarussians")
without managing to run out of either variety.
The differences among the colors may be known only to Russians,
spec. "Red" Russians.
