This short book contains some very good basic information. I can't
count the number of "beginner" books I have read over the years.
This is one of the best, for the very simp0le reason that it DOESN'T
tell you how to "act" like a Pagan; or how to wor****p like a Pagan;
or what to study to be a Pagan. It does show you how the THINK and
FEEL like a Pagan.
It is told in an entertaining way, by way of a story featuring three
youngsters and a "real witch." It doesn't tell you what is
right, although it does convey what is right for this author.
She shows a practicality in her approach which is refre****ng. When
asked by one of the youngster if she could move a coffee cup, the
"witch" says certainly. When challenged to do so, she walks over,
picks up the cup, and moves it. She then explains that Magic is in the
eye of the beholder (she can't explain how her mind formed the
thought that moved her arm, which picked up the cup), and that it makes
more sense to do things in the easiest way possible.
Of all the "beginner" books I have read, I enjoyed this one the
most. No dogma; no rituals; no "should"s and "shouldn't"s;
just a simple groundwork on how to approach the religion of Paganism.
