the 'realm' language is a bit outside of my ken,
but the notion of 'transmuting energy' is an old
one and can be placed into the context of any
mystical spirit-physiology system. the chakras
or the meridians or whatever "energy" you deem
possible or constructable or generatable may be
'translated' by the powerful mystic with ability
into usable potentia for alternative purpose.
the usual example in these pent up times is the
transmutation of ***ual energy for other aims
such as mowing the lawn or chopping wood. where
it comes to magic and 'magical power', the way
this may be interpreted helpfully would be in
association with talismanic battery power and
how it might be reformatted for other uses than
they were initiated.
one might use a magical amulet as a battery to
power a particular type of spell extending its
dimension of action away from its benefic to a
more neutral result, for example, or suck an
amulet dry of power in order to foster an aim
which was entirely different, though this is
said to 'sully its energies', as if there is
a refinement like laserlight happening inside.
there are those "good" guys who summon demons,
they say, torture them, and try to achieve good
ends, like mysticism, or treasure finding, with
their abilities so coerced. I'm sure there are
other good examples from folk magic too, like
if you take someone's blessing spell remnant
and use it as a vector to curse them.

there are absolute intersections of that type in
conventional folk magic application. one 'in a hurry'
formula for this is 'Fast Luck', another is longer term,
'Attraction', and these are both for fortune and love.
their intersection is attraction to the spell target,
whether quick and easy or longer term and substantial.
