That may very well be, however, the rest of the world may also call us 
"Yanks" and we still don't call ourselves that, (unless those of us who

'Rebs' call those damned yankees, yanks).

Could be, as far as in general usage outside of the U.S. but, there's not
a 
lot of usages of neo/paleo-pagan terms within most american groups, (or
many 
solitary self-desscribed pagans).  As for the accuracy of the terms, those

may be up for scrutiny, (see other post in this regard - no need to
address 
it twice).

It may be in wider use outside the States than within, as you've
mentioned. 
I have heard the term(s) in precise usage within very few groups over the 
years, however, the context was one of refining the definitions to more 
accurately reflect practices for the most part and not necessarily as 
self-referents.
