Just wanted to say, that I have wondered for YEARS why there was never
a show on like Jericho.
This wondering goes all the way back to the friggin' Cold War, when,
lets face it, this show would have been REALLY appropriate.
But no. Other than a really poorly conceived COMEDY (I think) about a
bunch of people in a farmhouse that lasted (I think, again) like 2
episodes, NOTHING.
One of my fantasies a couple years back was an anthology show (Or
series of mini-series) of classic, retro SciFi, with a Parallel
Universe theme. The rationel of this theme was earlier SciFi concerning
topical events could be done more authentically as in their time
period, instead of roughly modified for current themes.
Which is a long way to say that I had just finished reading "Alas
Babylon" which was pretty much quite like Jericho, except that it
happened when we thought it was going to happen (actually right BEFORE
the Cuban Missile Crisis), and it was a small town in Florida.
....And there were no NUTS involved. ;-)
