I remember the day when USENET was all about information. If you wanted to
read news and/or opinions on a subject, USENET was the place to go. Every
entry in a group was usually relevant to the group topic. This was about
15
years ago.
I started looking at USENET again about 5 years ago, and some ads started
to
creep in. Now, it's 2005, and it seems that 80% of ALL posts are some
knuckleheads trying to scam you out of your money or tell you how to get a
bigger *****.
How do we fight back? We must RECLAIM USENET from these morons who are SO
stupid, they don't realize their ads only annoy people instead of drawing
people to their "product." Every time I see an ad, I go right past it. I
really get a kick out of the dumb***** that think throwing in random
characters will SOMEHOW make their ad more attractive.
Get a clue!
FIGHT BACK! This is a rallying cry! There must be SOME way to get these
idiots out of USENET groups and make USENET what it's SUPPOSED TO BE:
about
the group topics. Herbal Viagra has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with
paranormal activity (that I'm aware of, anyway).
So, how do we do it? Can we have people DELETE these ads? Can we GO to
the
websites that are advertised here and, oh, I don't know, DO something to
them (legally *wink*)? What is the answer?
Or should we just give up hope and never use USENET again. That'll make
their ads really useful, now, won't it; when there's nobody here to read
them anymore.
