From the above link: http://ufo-joe.tripod.com/1990/199007sar.html
I
quote:
"Jeff stated that the object was about half the size of the full moon
or about the size of a nearby car. He attempted to get another witness to
the sighting but his parents were in bed asleep and there was no-one else
around at that time."
Obviously Jeff is referring to apparent size, or his UFO would be
extrodinarily large. I don't see how establi****ng the apparent size of the
object helps us in any way, unless we know how far away it is. We should
of course want to ask how far away it is because it does help establish if
any of its movements are consistent with known flying/levitating objects.
To analyse its angular momentum we need to account for paralax, and so we
need the distance. Without knowing how big it (actualy) is or how far away
it is we have no really usefull information. But then again the whole
story proffers nothing but an anecdotal testimony, from an uncorroberated
witness of an alleged sighting of an optical phenominon in the sky, which
might have had numerous possible explainations other than the ones
strenuously eliminated by the investigator in this case.
"Apparently, Jeff star-gazes a bit,..."
(harp arpageios sound in a dreamy fog of contemplation) I wish that there
realy were space****ps carying aliens from other worlds. Why can't I ever
be a wittnes to something like that? Jeff wonders, as his eyes plumb the
depths of the dark celestial abbyss.
"...and is also used to the usual jet-planes which constantly fly over
this area, east to west, and vice-versa, and said he thought the object
was definately not a plane."
Congradulations are in order then. Apparently Jeff can tell when an
optical phenominon or flying object isn't a plane, Astoni****ng stuff.
"Infact a plane passed by both before and after his sighting of this
object."
That was quite handy then. Just in case Jeff needed a comparison to show
what a plane flying past looked like.
What the hell is so amassing about any of this? The only thing it counts
for is evidence of what insignificant, un-remarkable and baseless
testimonies, UFOoligists will bring into the fold as 'research'.
