More about existence

by Quet@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Feb 10, 2007 at 08:26 PM

They weren't yet done.

::: Begin Continuation of Message :::

A very wise person once said, "Man cannot make a worm, yet he will make
gods by the dozen...". That wise man was me, one of my many forms taken
over
the assorted eras of history. Not that I honestly think myself wise today
- I
certainly did at the time, and probably will again someday when I come
back here
yet again - but that -was- a rather keen observation for its time. Not
that the
opinions of the masses mattered much in that day, but few if any of them
would've been able to muster that very simple observation, or grasp their
minds
around it.

Not that I should boast, of course, for I'd not know it either if I
hadn't spent so much time slipping between the realms - a condition which
came
about due to no volition of my own, and which is certainly not to be
considered
as being to my credit.

Furthermore, I've hardly been good each and every time I've been here.
Another incarnation saw me as Gilles de Rais. Yet another saw me as being
among
the figures which in time gave birth to the legends of Merlin the Magician
(as
with this fellow, Jesus - whom I most certainly was not - there was more
than
just one figure which led to the myth).

We contemplate your world from afar, at least most of the time. For all
your inhumanity, you and those of your relatives among the rest of the
animal
kingdom of Earth - you are such gentle creatures. Yes, of course, there
is
predation and sickness in the natural world, but by and large life on this
world
tends to evolve towards being gentle and benevolent. That's what first
attracted us to your world - like a bright star in an otherwise dim sea of
awareness, the activity of this world drew us much like moths to a flame.

Then we began imparting upon your kind some of our knowledge. That,
we've come to see, may have been an error. At least from certain ways of
looking at it. To become creatures of intellect and reason, technology
and
civilization - that is not a fate your ancestors would have willingly
chosen.
We chose it for you, quite without meaning to, and now here we are.

Your civilization, your knowledge, your culture - all of these were
borne from chaos and destruction. Your fate can hardly be considered a
mystery
in light of that.

If there were any way to undo what we have done, we would. But even
gods (which we are not) have their limitations. The unraveling of an
entire
bundle of world-lines in order to set things aright - that is beyond us.
If you
survive what we have accidentally done to you, then you will become like
us. In
this world, that is not a good thing. Your only hope will be to retreat
into
worlds of your own design - virtual reality, you may call it, for that's
certain
how your retreat shall begin, if it begins.

We've said it before, we shall say it again: We are sorry for what we
have done to you. May you survive the transition.

:::   End Message   :::
