old spells

by BalanceDragon <BalanceDragon1@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Mar 31, 2008 at 08:02 PM

Here are some old spells I dug out of some books in my collection.
They may not be to everyone's likes, but they were written in another
place and another time:

House protection charm from Lanca****re, England:

Write over the entrance of your home:
Sun, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, trine,
***tile, dragon's head, dragon's tail, I charge ye
to guard this house from all evil spirits whatever,
and guard it from all disorders and from any thing
being taken wrongly, and give this family good
health and wealth.*

* I hope I got this right. The english and spelling
in this was soooo bad.......

A Romany witch or Gypsy saying:

Full moon, high sea
Great man thou shalt be
Red dawning, cloudy sky-
Bloody death thou shalt die

Pray to the Moon when she is round,
Luck with you will then abound-
What you seek for shall be found,
On the sea or solid ground.

Note: The first part seems directed at nautical
concerns, while the latter half almost seemed
from something else altogether. Would like to
research this one further and find any missing
pieces. I did copy it right from the book as
represented though...

A charm against theft of livestock:
(slavic/ gypsy)

3 drops of blood from a small child are dripped
on a piece of bread and then fed to the animal
concerned while this is spoken:

I give three (drops of) blood
To become young and good-
Who steals thee to him
Shall be (is) blood and dried up

When blood and blood
pass into thy belly
Fire and fire and great fire
shall devour and devour all
who will eat thee

................on a lighter note;

a spell for fairies to secure your swine from
theft: (this one's good;)

Dig a hole in turf which is then filled with
salt and charcoal dust; and then covered with
earth as these words are uttered:

This is thine
come not to us!
I give thee what I can
oh Spirit of Earth, hear!
Let not the thief go!
We have three chains
Three very good fairies
who protect us!

note: there is nothing in the spell itself
which seems to limit it's use to pigs only,
or anything else for that matter. This may
be a spell that can be used for many things...

Gpysy spell against thieves:
(another good one!)
To do this spell, the owner runs thrice around
the object they intend to protect stark ****d!
...each time repeating these words! The spell
is supposed to protect any animal or object
the caster wishes...

Oh thief do not go!
Further do not come!
Thy hands, thy feet
Shall decay
If thou takest this _________ (name object)

finis~
