It appears that Google is fighting a losing battle against spammers
who have been notoriously abusing the free "Google Groups" posting
host. The sheer volume of spammers, stalkers, trolls, sock-puppets,
etc., have made uniquely filtering every sockpuppet posting through
the "googlegroups.com" host impractical, if not flat out impossible.
Although the invaluable Google Groups interface (formerly Deja news)
is the only act in town for searching through the immense labyrinth
of archived usenet newsgroup messages, the _pandemic_ abuse via the
"googlegroups.com" host has reached critical mass. Enough is enough!
Google may be ignoring legitimate complaints, but their GG service
is free, AFAIK. So it's the spammers, stalkers and other douchebags
abusing the free GG service who are ultimately at fault, not Google.
I really appreciate Google Groups, but I have lost all patience for
the spammers who have flagrantly abused their posting host services.
Therefore, with much regret, I have universally UDP'd "googlegroups",
and all replies to their threads which contain said reference to wit:
* drop approved:*@[EMAIL PROTECTED]
* drop message-id:*googlegroups*
* drop references:*googlegroups*
I still use newsgroup-specific filters to filter out spam originating
from other (non-google) nntp posting hosts, so as not to udp innocent
users on other groups, i.e. which the offending spammer isn't posting
to. Of course, any unique regular expression in the offending message-
header will do. But the GG spam has become too prevalent to combat on
a per- "from", per- "subject", per- "newsgroup", per- "header", level.
And to be fair, for Atheists who don't like to read anonymously-posted
messages (because if you don't want to hear from me, I sure don't want
to hear from you), try:
* drop approved:*@[EMAIL PROTECTED]
* drop from:*anonymous*|*mixmaster*
* drop
message-id:*googlegroups*|*anonymous*|*remailer*|*dizum*|*bananasplit*|*mixmaster*
* drop
references:*googlegroups*|*anonymous*|*remailer*|*dizum*|*bananasplit*|*mixmaster*
Etcetera etcetera. It will make your "nfilter.dat" file a lot shorter! :)
Whatever software you're using (Xnews, Nfilter, 40tude, Hamster, etc.),
unless you're actually interested in what somebody else has posted to
the newsgroup(s) in which you're subscribed, please don't respond. If
you do, you're likely to be killfiled as a troll/stalker/spammer, etc.
The best thing to do if you're not interested in what somebody writes
is to killfile them globally, else on a sub-global newsgroup(s) level;
like with Nfilter proxy, by using the asterisk (*) wildcard. It works
great. And I do wish that everyone would stop responding to me, since
I have precisely _zero_ interest in anything you Atheists have to say.
The only thing that interests me now is war, World War III/Armageddon.
It's all that matters anymore. It's required before Christ can return
with the Dark clouds. Therefore devout Christians pray for Armageddon,
because nothing else will do. May the quarterback throw the touchdown.
And may all the pitiful pleas of the dying Atheists fall on deaf ears...
