Using a slightly higher lift under my shoulders helps in shoulderstand.
Wearing a top which doen't let them flop as much in that direction
does, too, but they're hard to find. One senior instructior suggested
that, when practicing at home, doing those poses topless might help
by letting them go to the sides more, but I don't regularly invert
at home, so I haven't tried that.
