Do explanations explain anything and if they do which version should
we pick, treasure and trust for life? Belief has greatly become the
business of other people, bigwigs, authorities or just someone
trustworthy enough. It is precisely by not checking out the data
passed from mouth to mouth, bookshelf to bookshelf that both rare
knowledge and disgusting superstition spread. Unluckily for the rest
of us it is precisely superstition that usually proposes a language
understandable to all. Superstition nicely fits its purpose especially
when absurd. God forbid zodiac. Albeit the Holy Bible itself states
clearly that planet Earth is a ball suspended in the void, belief in
Earth being flat or hallow persists precisely because bearing no
scientific evidence. So does the zodiac. We have become accustomed to
believe without asking for evidence. We don't trust our own eyes. It
has been a long and dark training that haunts us even to this
illuminated age of democracy and truth for all. Blind men and
astrologers never check the skies, but blind men at least dream.
Perhaps science has done so much things that we don't trust,
understand or care for, that like the atomic bomb we want to forget.
It is then that superstition has an alternative that in some cases
covets the sup****t of science itself. Flattering superstition has
occupied seats in the chambers of science for quite some time in
Europe. There are many superstitions that we believe in to this day as
taken for granted.
One of them is the zodiac.
